Explorer Membership

Do you believe that Harwood Village at Southgate may be the home for you and want to know more?  Then join as an Explorer – you will learn more about our vision and values, cohousing, become involved, and determine if you want to move forward and become a full Equity Member.  

Submit your Explorer Application (individual or household) along with the non refundable $100 fee.  Membership entitles the Explorer to a minimum of 3 months, maximum of six months of learning, participation in presentations, meetings, activities and social events.  The Explorer stays abreast of where the community is in the process of development, what are the next steps. and get acquainted with other members of the community.

• Explorers should visit Lakeland at least once during the membership term, and attend at least one business meeting
• We will provide other opportunities to visit the site, spend social time with members, and get to know Lakeland better
• Work with an assigned Buddy to understand our history and learn how to participate in our activities
• Attend community-building events: potlucks, coffees, and parties
• Participate on a committee, if possible
• Participate in community trainings, such as building design and governance/process workshops
